I graduated in Foreign Languages and Literatures in Udine in 1982 by discussing the thesis in General Linguistics on Aspects of exemplified technical translation of the Italian version of some novels by Poe, supervisor Roberto Gusmani, co-rapporteur Vincenzo Orioles. On May 4, 1987, I was a researcher in Glottology and Linguistics at the then Institute of Glottology and Classical Philology; in 2000 I became an associate professor and since 2007 I am a full professor of Glottology and linguistics. I was the project manager of Online Public Relations, the only e-learning degree course at the University of Udine, as well as the Rector's Delegate for Networks, IT systems, and for the University's e-learning, and Vice Director of DIUM; I am Delegate for the effectiveness and simplification of institutional communication and I coordinate the interuniversitary PhD in Language and Literary Studies at Udine – Trieste.

Member of the Executive Council (2008–11) and National Secretary (2012–14) of the SIG – Italian Society of Glottology, currently I am President (2017–19). The research activity was carried out in the field of linguistic interference, where I proposed the analysis of the main types of contact linguistics phenomena and their reflections on the structures of language replication at various levels of analysis. The prospect of conducting terminological investigations against the metalanguage of linguistics was then outlined. I turned my attention to the theme of Italian in the world and the new values of Italian and Italian character and, in this context, I directed the 10 editions of the specialization course "Identity values and entrepreneurship" addressed to descendants of Friulian emigrants in South America.

Ample space has been dedicated to the special language of institutional communication, the subject of scientific work and training activities aimed at operators of the Public Administration with particular attention to the issues of linguistic simplification, communicative effectiveness, readability, transparency with an opening also towards communication in the health field. With Vincenzo Orioles and Franco Crevatin I conduct the band A magazine in the ANVUR classification "Linguistic Encounters", founded by Roberto Gusmani.
