Prof. Françoise Van Haeperen
Françoise van Haeperen (1973) is Full Professor of Ancient History at the Université catholoque de Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. Her intense research activity focuses in particular on Roman religion in its cultural, sociological and institutional aspects, which are investigated by combining literary sources, epigraphy and archaeological data. Among her most important works: Le collège pontifical (3ème a.C.-4ème s. p.C.). Contribution à l’étude de la religion publique romaine (Bruxelles-Rome, 2002), Étrangère et ancestrale. La mère des dieux dans le monde romain (Paris, 2019), in addition to the publication of the excavations of Ancient Ostia.
In the second semester (March-May 2022) she will be lecturer of the course in Religions of the Ancient World for the Master's Degree Course in Archaeology and Cultures of Antiquity of the University of Udine, concentrating on the forms, times, spaces and gestures of worship in the Roman times.
