La ricezione internazionale dell’opera di Svevo: una mappa digitale

The project is conceived in continuity with a previous research fellowship funded by the Friuli Venezia Giulia region (with the following objectives: inventory of the Fondo Eredi Svevo at the Museo Sveviano and an initial critical study of part of its materials), while also connecting to the scientific and outreach initiatives related to the centenary of the publication of La coscienza di Zeno (2023).

The project, which will combine archival and documentary research with a critical-interpretative approach through the tools of the Digital Humanities, will be organised in three phases. During the first phase, the fellow will map the translations of La coscienza di Zeno, starting from a survey of the library holdings preserved at the Museo Sveviano in Trieste. In the second phase, the translation mapping will be related to the materials held in the Fondo Eredi Svevo (correspondence, articles, reviews), in order to carry out an initial critical study of Svevo’s circulation and reception abroad. Finally, a digital map will be created to visualise the results of the critical study and the trajectories of Svevo’s reception in the literary field of each national context.

Objectives

Survey of the translations of La coscienza di Zeno, starting from a review of the library holdings preserved at the Museo Sveviano.
Survey of archival materials (correspondence, articles, reviews) held in the Fondo Eredi Svevo.

Results in the field of DH

Creation of a digital map of the translations of La coscienza di Zeno, with a dual mode of visualisation: either progressing chronologically with arrows, or navigating the map and clicking on “pins”.
Development of a website dedicated to the translations of La coscienza di Zeno.
