After obtaining a PhD with a thesis dedicated to the activity of Pietro Selvatico (with particular focus on the periodical press), I continued my studies relating to the history of the cultural heritage and the application of the digital humanities to research activities in the fields of Art History and Criticism.
I am currently a Research Fellow in Critical and Conservation History of Wood Wculpture, an artistic production that strongly characterizes the regional territory. I also followed the same path also in the context of previous research grants - more specifically, I dealt with the history of the perception of monuments and art objects, mostly with regard to their identity value. Among the research topics I investigated, I can mention the History of Restoration through the development of specific technical languages at regional level; the institutional issues connected to the preservation and protection of cultural heritage in post-unification Friuli; and the protection (or loss) of artistic objects in the course of the two World Wars. I also took part in various projects within this same research line; more recently (2017–2020), I was a team member of the HERA Joint Research Programme - Uses of the Past Transfer of Cultural Objects in the Alpe Adria Region in the 20th Century, (Project Leader: Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte, Munich).
As far as Digital Humanities are concerned, I am the technical manager of the Computer Lab for historical-artistic documentation and of the departmental Photo Library: in this context, I deal with the development of databases for reasearch and dissemination, also in cooperation with other universities.
Among the projects I participated in, the most relevant are: InfoBC. Informatica e web per i Beni culturali (a three-year project funded by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, LR 26/2005); La ricostruzione virtuale di un archivio disperso. Storia della tutela in Friuli Venezia Giulia: 1866–1922 (a two-year project funded by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, LR 19/2004).
