I graduated from the Pellegrino Rossi Classical Lyceum in Massa-Carrara in 1999. After obtaining a degree in Law from the University of Pisa (2005), I went on to obtain degrees in Modern Literature (2009), under the supervision of Luca Curti, and in Italian Language and Literature (2011), under the supervision of Raffaele Donnarumma, from the same university. I subsequently completed a Joint PhD at the University of Perugia and Ghent University, defending my doctoral dissertation in April 2017.

From 2016 to 2018, I co-coordinated the Jean Monnet Project I work therefore I am (European) on behalf of the Department of Philosophy and Education Sciences at the University of Turin (P.I. Maurizio Ferraris). In 2018, I was a Research Fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies of Southeastern Europe in Rijeka. From 2019 to 2022, I was a Research Fellow at the Department of Humanities of the University of Turin, and from 2018 to 2021 I taught at the Department of Literary Studies at Ghent University as a Visiting Professor. I subsequently renewed this appointment, with research-only duties, until August 2024. In autumn 2021, I was appointed to a permanent teaching position at the Istituto di Istruzione Superiore V. Bosso A. Monti in Turin (A012), and in July 2022 I joined the Department of Humanities and Cultural Heritage (DIUM) at the University of Udine as a Researcher (RTD-A) in Literary Criticism and Comparative Literature, where I began teaching Editing and Editorial Techniques. In 2023, I was a Visiting Fellow at the University of Banja Luka and at Cardozo Law School in New York. In the same year, I obtained the National Academic Qualification (Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale) for Associate Professor in Contemporary Italian Literature and the National Academic Qualification for Associate Professor in Literary Criticism and Comparative Literature. In September 2024, I took up a position as a Researcher (RTD-B) in Literary Criticism and Comparative Literature in the same department, the DIUM, where I had previously worked, and I also began teaching Comparative Literature.

In 2025, I was a Visiting Fellow at Utrecht University, representing the Scuola Superiore di Toppo Wassermann within the framework of the PNRR project Educating Future Citizens. In 2026, I was a Visiting Fellow with teaching responsibilities at the University of Cape Town (UCT).

My research focuses in particular on Modernism, Late Modernism, and Neomodernism, the representation of work and industry in the contemporary novel, and the relationship between literature and law. I have delivered lectures in Italy and abroad and have presented papers at national and international conferences. I have published approximately fifty articles and essays in scholarly venues and have edited around fifteen volumes and special issues of academic journals. These include an interdisciplinary volume on work, Law, Labour and the Humanities. Contemporary European Perspectives (Routledge, 2020), and a volume on Leonardo Sciascia (Lang, 2023), as well as a series of monographic issues devoted to twentieth-century authors, including Mastronardi (Ospite ingrato on line, 2020), Pasolini (Moderna Språk, 2023), Fenoglio (Quaderni del ’900, 2024), Roversi (Ospite ingrato on line, 2024), and Testori (Arabeschi, 2026), and to topics related to my research, such as Letteratura e Economia nell’Italia degli anni Duemila (Narrativa, 2020) and Aesthetics of Contemporary Work: Depictions, Narratives, Conceptualization (Rivista di Estetica, 2022).

I have published several articles and a monograph on the work of Paolo Volponi (Morlacchi, 2020), and recently co-edited a special issue entitled Volponi e il romanzo moderno (Studi Novecenteschi, 2025). I am also co-author of a volume devoted to the intersection of Law and Literature (Brill, 2020) and author of a monograph on the Italian Neomodernist novel (Palumbo, 2022), in which I examine a series of “experimental” novels from the second half of the twentieth century by Testori, Calvino, Bianciardi, Mastronardi, Volponi, Parise, Consolo, D’Arrigo, and Pasolini, arguing for the persistence, in a recalibrated form, of Modernism. From this perspective, I have also worked on novels by La Capria, Morante, Sapienza, and Tabucchi, and co-edited a special issue of CoSMo (no. 28, 2026), entitled Neomodernismi. Declinazioni e riconfigurazioni della narrativa europea: 1945–1989.

I co-organized Humanities for Europe, an initiative that received the Altiero Spinelli Prize for Outreach in 2017. I have participated in several research projects, including Scienza Nuova. Digital Capital (2022), and I conceived and coordinated the research project Officina digitale (2024–2025), resulting in the publication by Pendragon of an open-access, extensively annotated edition (2026) of the Bologna-based journal Officina (1955–1959).

I am a member of Figure della temporalità. Metro, ritmo, lingua e sintassi nella poesia italiana degli anni sessanta, GRILITS (Interdepartmental Research Group on Work, Industry, Technology and the Humanities), CEMS (Center for European Modernism Studies), Twentieth-Century Crossroads, and other national and international research groups.

I am co-editor-in-chief of Studi Novecenteschi, an editorial board member of Allegoria, Ospite ingrato online, and the BITeS 900 series. Since 2020, I have also served as a member of the jury of the Biella Prize for Literature and Industry, in the categories of fiction and non-fiction.
