Bruno Figliuolo and Elisabetta Scarton are pursuing further studies dedicated to the humanistic culture based on works and authors, through the analysis of unedited archival documents. These sources – especially diplomatic correspondences – are crucial to reconstruct the historical framework and the social, political and cultural context, as well as to comment on the narration of those humanists who wrote about history. Within the project Edizione nazionale dei testi della storiografia umanistica, Figliuolo wrote the 12th volume (BARTOLOMEO FACIO, Rerum gestarum Alfonsi regis libri X, edited by Gabriella Albanese and Paolo Pontari, with a historical commentary by Bruno Figliuolo), while Elisabetta Scarton is working on the 22nd volume: GIOVANNI ALBINO, De gestis regum Neapolitanorum ab Aragonia (together with Gabriella Albanese).
Figliuolo is also conducting various research on men of letters (from Dante to Petrarca) and humanists like Giovanni Pontano, Lorenzo Valla and Biondo Flavio.
