The project aims to create a portal entirely dedicated to the figure of Paul the Deacon, comprising the digitisation of the manuscripts transmitting his works, the cataloguing of witnesses with interoperability of the digitised documentation, the mapping of Pauline locations, and digital editions with annotated electronic transcription.
Objectives
The project’s objectives include:
- the annotated electronic transcription of the complete manuscript tradition of Paul the Deacon’s Liber de episcopis Mettensibus. The text, already edited by Chiara Santarossa in the Edizione Nazionale dei testi mediolatini d’Italia (2015), will be made available in open-access digital form and accompanied by the digitisation of the manuscripts, each provided with annotated electronic transcription;
- the collection of linguistic metadata relating to Pauline revisions preserved in the manuscript St Petersburg, National Library of Russia, Lat. F.v.I.7, which contains autograph corrections by Paul the Deacon.
