HEAD OF DEPARTMENT
He is elected by the Council to act as representative of the Department for a period of three years. During this time, the Head of Department shall lead the Council and the Department Board: he ought to schedule sittings, set the agenda, and ensure the implementation of the resolutions. He is also required to supervise the overall activities of the Department, which he shall coordinate and manage, and is responsible for relations with the other academic bodies. At the time of his appointment, the Head of Department designates a Vice, choosing him/her from among the teaching staff. The Vice ought to carry out the Head of Department's functions when he is absent, prevented or in case of delegation.
DEPARTMENT COUNCIL
The Department Council is the collective body whose role is to plan, run and manage the various activities of the Department itself, mostly with regard to regulations, associations and investment. It is attended by all teachers and researches of DIUM, plus five representatives of the Technical and Administrative Staff, five Student representatives and the Head of Administration.
DEPARTMENT BOARD
The Department Board has functions related to valuation and day-to-day management of the Department. It is chaired by the Head of Department and consists of delegates to Research and Education, Teacher representatives and Technical and Administrative Staff representatives – all elected by secret ballot. Its term of office is three years.
